| Cuba and Rosebud Sioux Reservation Mission Trips |

Nine missionaries from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Paducah display their bracelets made to raise money for a mission trip to Cuba in July.Participating in home repair projects, vacation Bible school and baptisms in Santiago, Cuba were: Byram Fager, Rob Fager, Barb Gibbons, Bob Gibbons, Josh Kowalczik, Ray Musgrave, AJ Sales, Caroline Switzer and Chuck Walter. Those who assisted with home repair projects and vacation Bible school on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, South Dakota were: Alyssa Aker, Corey Aker, Ethan Aker, Erica Asher, Jenny Asher, Tyson Asher, Amber Bell, Heidi Cox, Carol Ellerbusch, Reese Ellerbusch, Martha Fant, Ron Fant, Kayla Hartley, Pam Hartley, Jeffrey Johnson, Lauren Kendall, Rachel Kendall, Stephanie Kendall, Breanna Kofron, Audrey May, Lydia May, Paulette McConoughey, Brian Medlin, Lisa Mitchell and Palmer Stroup. |

Lloyd Holsten Inducted into the Concordia Hall of Fame |
Concordia University, Nebraska has announced the posthumous induction of Lloyd Holsten into the Concordia University, Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame. The event will be a highlight of the Homecoming, Alumni Reunion and Family Weekend, October 7 - 9, 2011 activities. Lloyd was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murray, KY, where his wife Donna, daughter and son-in-law Kristi and Dave Mathis are members. His daughter, Terri Holsten, lives in Lawrenceville, GA. Lloyd played football for Concordia as a defensive tackle. He received a number of honors during those four years, including All Tri-State College Conference defensive tackle and Concordia Senior Athlete of the year during his senior year (1960-61). He received a pro contract with the Detroit Lions as well as expressions of interest from the Chicago Bears and the Montreal Allouettes. Lloyd was able to attend the ceremonies in 2002 when the entire 1960 Conference Championship team was inducted into the Concordia Hall of Fame. Lloyd taught at Lutheran High School South in St. Louis for 31 years and at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School for 5 years prior to that. He coached football at LHSS for many years, as head varsity coach and as “B” team coach. He retired from teaching in 1998 and moved to western Kentucky in 1999. The Athletic Hall of Fame was established to pay tribute and give recognition to former athletes, coaches, teams and others who have made exceptional contributions to the athletic programs at Concordia and who exemplify the Christian principles to which the university adheres.

Laura Schaumburg of Paducah, member of St. Paul Lutheran, was recently inducted as secretary of The Paducah/River City chapter of Business & Professional Women. She is the daughter of Nancy Bremer and Paul Schaumburg.Mary Riley of Paducah, member of St. Matthew Lutheran, has been named to the Dean's List for the 2011 spring semester at Western Kentucky U., where she earned a 4.0 GPA, majoring in exercise science. She is the daughter of Harold and Kathryn Riley.
