Night with the Crosscutters
Thank you to all of you who came out for a Night with the Crosscutters in July. In spite of the threatening-looking clouds, the rain held off and we had a very tasty picnic and saw a great ball game. It was a great night of fellowship and fun.  We especially want to thank Joyce Hudson for all of her time and effort in making sure everyone had their tickets for the event.

Thrivent Choice Dollars
Another big thank you goes to all of you who voted in the Thrivent Choice Voting Event. A total of 150,199 members voted in this first-ever event. As a result, $1 million in Thrivent Financial charitable funds were distributed among the following 10 organizations based on the percentage of votes each organization received:

Tiadaghton Chapter Update
It is hard to believe but we have passed the half-way point in the year and to date we have distributed well over half of our Care Abounds in Communities® program funds. We have been able to help many organizations and individuals in our area communities including area food banks, Relay for Life, Camp Mount Luther, a local library, a local women's shelter, and several individuals facing unmanageable medical expenses. If you have a fund-raising project or a hands-on service project you would like the board to consider for approval, please read the article below on the Care Abounds in Communities® program.

Funding Provided Through Care Abounds in Communities®
Chapters of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are organized geographically and bring together members to help others and help their community.

Through the Care Abounds in Communities® program, Thrivent Financial provides funding to members like you who form community service teams to conduct fundraising activities and/or hands-on service activities to help individuals, families and qualified not-for-profit organizations. Contact Carol Rhoads at 570-753-3778 for assistance in getting started.

We Need You
Imagine yourself as an advocate for both Thrivent Financial and your congregation to identify Thrivent Financial programs and services that will help your congregation achieve its mission and goals, resulting in a positive impact on your congregation and community. Imagine you have the primary responsibility of connecting with Thrivent Financial members, congregational leadership and congregational members to understand their needs, while partnering with Thrivent Financial representatives and chapter leadership to identify and execute charitable, educational and social solutions to meet those needs.

Congregational advocates do just that! And with this exciting new role just launching, the time to get involved is NOW! Our chapter has several congregational advocate opportunities available. The only requirements are: being a Thrivent Financial member; a desire to help people; a passion for your congregation and Thrivent Financial and approximately five hours of volunteer time per month.

We very much need you! Help us take full advantage of this unique opportunity to significantly impact your congregation. Contact your Director of Congregational Advocates (Patricia Burd, 570-769-7087) today to find out more.

If serving as a congregational advocate does not work for you but you'd like to be involved or volunteer in some capacity, there are many other volunteer opportunities, both short-term and longer-term, available as well. Please contact any chapter leader and we'll describe how you can make a difference through the Thrivent Financial chapter system in a way that fits into your schedule.

Looking for a Way to Make A Difference?
Imagine yourself as part of a group of caring people with the opportunity to decide how best to use funding that benefits people in need and your community. Imagine being able to increase the impact that money has through community involvement, awareness, additional funds raised and the caring work of many hands. And imagine being able to help Thrivent Financial members come together for charitable, educational and social purposes.

Chapter leaders with the Tiadaghton Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans do just that! And with chapter leader elections just around the corner, the time to get involved is NOW! Our chapter will have a few leadership opportunities for next year. The only requirements are: being a Thrivent Financial member; a desire to help people; and five to 15 hours per month volunteer time (depending on the position).

We very much need you on the chapter leadership board—without a full board, our chapter will not qualify for the funding that helps people and our community. Help us take full advantage of this unique opportunity to significantly impact our community and contact Clyde Bishop at 570-324-2466 today to find out more or add your name to the election ballot.

If serving on the chapter leadership board does not work for you but you'd like to be involved or volunteer in some capacity, there are many other volunteer opportunities, both short-term and longer-term, available as well. Please contact us and we'll describe how you can make a difference through the Thrivent chapter system in a way that fits into your schedule.
