Thank you for visiting our web site! The Association of Lutheran Friends is a not-for-profit Pennsylvania corporation that provides a forum for cooperation in ministry, education, and fellowship involving Lutherans. We strive in our own small way to stimulate community awareness among our members and beyond and foster service to the church and community at large. We have a membership of over 70 (please send $10 and your name, address, phone to Box 3113, Scranton, PA 18505 for your membership!) and we have an executive board of 8 individuals from congregations of both the ELCA and the LCMS.
We do have quite a few events throughout the year scheduled - and we want you to know that they are NOT for the membership, but they are FOR EVERYONE! Please ask at your church for the 2004 ALF "All Things Lutheran" Calendar that they should have a number of. Otherwise the best way to get a sense of what we do is to go to the newsletter page link below and read them!
AN IMPORTANT REASON this page has been put on the internet is because of our Lutheran Church Community Calendar which we offer as a service to our Lutheran community. WE ARE ASKING ALL CONGREGATIONS to submit their scheduled events for 2005 to this calendar as soon as possible BEFORE THE END OF OCTOBER. The hopeful outcome of this is that anyone of us can know of all the events and dinners that are going on in each other's congregations - and participate in them if we desire. Also a side benefit might be that we can avoid scheduling conflicts for major events.
The beauty of this Lutheransonline web site is that ANYONE with web access can make a submission to this calendar (After you become a Registered User and Log In, you will see the "Update" link on the calendar page). Even after October, we hope you continue to add your events to this calendar as they are scheduled so that people can continue to be updated with the latest calendar events within our Lutheran community.
Pass this link around to everyone! Publish it in your Sunday bulletin! Get the word out that Lutherans are alive and well!
