For Immediate Release: December 16, 2011 Contact: Jan Novak @ 920-787-2671Reach the Peak Race Organizers and Sponsors Support A+ Program. Waushara County - Jan Novak, Reach the Peak Race volunteer along with primary race sponsors recently presented event proceeds to A+ Coordinator, Erin Johns. Major sponsors of the Fourth Annual Reach the Peak Race include back row: Ginny Wilbrandt, Adams-Columbia Columbia and Touchstone® Energy; Patrick Getchius, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans; Bonnie Zarembas, Nordic Mountain Ski Resort; and Joan Voigt, Waushara Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The Fourth Annual Reach the Peak Race donated $4000 to A+ Programs at Riverview and Redgranite Elementary Schools where the funds are needed the most. The funds will support student enrichment activities and scholarships as well as program supplies. Wautoma’s A+ Programs serve an average of 220 children every day after school offering homework help, enrichment and service projects in the community. The program helps students succeed, connect to their community and reduces stress in families. Local financial support of the program is increasingly important as A+ Program grant funds decrease. Reach the Peak Race committee members include Chris Sluke, Kim Cassidy, Karin Hetcher, Jan Novak, Therese Kasuboski and Patrick Getchius. The fifth annual Reach the Peak Race will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Nordic Mountain Ski Resort. Watch www.reachthepeakrace.com for registration and race information.

WE HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND. NEARLY $2000 WAS DEPOSITED IN THE RED KETTLES ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE THAT VOLUNTEERED AND CONTRIBUTED. Volunteers needed Dec 2nd & 3rd to ‘Ring the Bell’ at the Salvation Army Red Kettles The Waushara County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans received a request from the Salvation Army to supplement funds raised in Waushara County on Friday December 2nd and Saturday December 3rd. The funds raised at the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles are used during the holidays and throughout the year to benefit needy families in Waushara County. The Board of Directors of the Waushara County Chapter of Thrivent Financial, and the Financial Representatives have decided to “put their money where their mouth is” by volunteering to ring bells at all three locations in Wautoma on those two days, and we are encouraging other members to do the same. This is the most special time of the year for giving to others and this will be a great opportunity for Thrivent Financial members and their families to give an hour or two of their time to help those less fortunate in our county. If you would like to sign up to ring the bells on Friday or Saturday, select an hour, or two, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm that fits your schedule and call the Thrivent Financial office at (920) 787-1808. |

| Wautoma Chapter Sponsors Thrivent Reach the Peak Race |
The 4th Annual Thrivent Reach the Peak 5K Walk/Run and 15K Run along with the Touchstone Energy Kids Fun Run was held on Saturday, October 15th in Mt. Morris at Nordic Mountain Ski Resort. The story goes the the town of Mt. Morris was named in the late 1800's after two men agreed to decide the town's name with a foot race to the top of the hill. The winners name was Morris. Saturday the fastest female and male had the town named after them for a day. All proceeds benefited the A+ After school programs in the Wautoma Area School District. The Waushara Chapter of Thrivent Financial supported this years Reach the Peak Run with a $1500 donation thru Thrivent's Care Abounds in Communities funding. If you would also like to watch a short video of the start of the 5K race, click on the next image. |
