Mrs. Bernau’s News - PreK

This was the last week of pre-school. It is hard to believe the year is ending. The children are very excited. Thank you for all your support and sharing your children with us at Immanuel. It is a privilege to teach them.

In our Bible story this week we stressed the importance of families. We heard about the boy Timothy and how his grandmother and mother shared the Word of God with him.

Thanks to Kellie Schwartz for giving us a tour of their hobby farm. The children loved to see the cows eat and the horse and pony run by the fence. The hayride was one of the highlights of the trip too. Also a special thanks to Kyle Kolden who set up a special visit to see the Koreson farms just west of 212 and highway 15. The children loved seeing the goats, sheep, cows, peacocks and even a turkey. They were also able to pet ducks and a calf. Climbing into the combine was fun and sitting on the tractor too.

God’s blessings to each of you throughout the summer.
Joined together with you as we step Forward in Faith,
Mrs. Donna Bernau

Miss Hardel’s News -Grades K-1
It’s hard to believe that summer vacation will be here in just a few short weeks! The next few weeks will be very busy ones. On Monday we will begin our Iowa Basics Testing, which should only take a few days. The first graders will be testing with Mrs. Bernau and the Kindergarten students will test with me. We will try to break up the sections and take breaks in between so it doesn’t get to be too much for them. On Friday we will have our Track and Field Day in Hutchinson, the kids are really looking forward to it! Make sure that you send your kids to school with running shoes, comfortable clothes, and a water bottle. Permission slips were sent home today with their newsletter. Hope all you mothers have a wonderful Mother’s Day!! 
God's Blessings on your weekend,
Miss Hardel

What Does Jesus’ Death and Resurrection Mean to You?

It means to me that Jesus loves and cares about and would die on the cross for me, and take away my sins because Jesus loves me a lot! - McKenzie Latzke

It means to me that Jesus died to take away our sins and so we would not have to be crucified. We must be so special. He is very powerful! - Lexi Petzel

Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again! Wow, I must be very special – everyone is! Jesus did it for me and everyone! Now I will read His word!! – Viktoria Kranz

We were privileged to have Hannah Larson, a senior from Immanuel, present “Stand Up, Don’t Let Them Knock You Down. –Bullying and Self-esteem.” It was her “gold award” project for girl scouts. Her video portion was filmed at our school! She also had Bible references and lots of group discussion.

The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills begin next week. Make sure your children are well rested, eat a good breakfast, and bring a nutritious snack. It really makes a difference!

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you will enjoy (and take advantage of) the gifts they made just for you!

Mrs. Zumhofe

Happy Mother’s Day!
Mrs. Scharf’s News-Grades 5-8
We’re another week closer to the end of the year. This weekend the literature students will be coming to my home in New Ulm to have a movie marathon of movies related to books we’ve read this year. It has been a fun tradition that we all look forward to each year—well, MAYBE not Mr. Scharf!

The 5/4 and 6th grade math classes took tests Wednesday. I keep encouraging them to clear up the little mistakes. 5/4 math just started adding and subtracting fractions.

In English we are working with pronouns. Most of the time the students can hear whether a pronoun is used incorrectly, but once in awhile the wrong way is used so often that it sounds right! 

The students ran the mile on Wednesday and did well. They are working on other physical fitness tests, too, trying to get presidential or national awards!

The boys and girls will be working on Iowa Tests of Basic Skills this week and next, so they need to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast to fuel their brains!

Stepping forward in faith with you,
Mrs. Scharf

Mr. Holten’s News
Dear families,
Today is the last regular Friday in our old school building. I guess there will be a lot of “special” days coming up as we wrap up the school year. I would like to thank the 5-8th graders for all of their fine help with the whole “moving” project. They work together very well, and when given a large task to do, they accomplish it quickly, and it is done well. In 40 minutes they unloaded a large trailer and had all the boxes organized in the new storage building. After that was done we enjoyed a treat at the bakery!

Next week we will be doing our Iowa tests. Students should make sure to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast. It will help them do their best.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms!!!
Have a blessed weekend,
Mr. Holten

ALUMINUM CAN WAGON

We all drink alot of softdrinks during the summer months - and I'm asking you remember to save those cans. Immanuel Lutheran School has a "Can Wagon" near the east entrance of their playground. All you have to do is - - - walk up the steps, drop in your cans, and go away with a good feeling because you're helping our Immanuel children. Thanks alot!
