Intro for our Troop's Summer Camp 2008

..........The Showcase of Ten Mile River Scout Camps..........
.
Troop 350 goes to Summer Camp every year. It is a major part of what Scouting is all about. During the months between each summer, the Scouts have fun with weekly meetings, monthly Themes, and all the other Activities. But, it is during the one week at Summer Camp that the Scouts practice growing-up on their very own. Granted, it's fun, adventurous, and all the other things it's advertised to be. It's also putting into practice what the've learned about: the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto and the Scout Slogan.

These are the plans for the 2008 program year's week at Camp Aquehonga in the Ten Mile River Scout Reservation near Narrowsburg, New York. This page is for parents, the adult leaders attending, and even for the Scouts. It's also for non-members. Here is information about cost, personal equipment, planning and other odds and ends. We want everyone to see how we prepare for a fun and SAFE week at Camp.

So, look over the information. OK Scouts, get ready for a week of fun and adventure. A week to remember for a lifetime.

POSSIBLE FINANCIAL HELP IN 2008

Unfortunately FINANCIAL help in 2007 is again hard to come by. The Camping Committee of the Brooklyn Council, BSA has secured some funding for Scouts. And, our Troop has a donation for those attending from a private citizen.

1. From the Brooklyn Council, Boy Scouts of America:

a. A possible Discount is available if the FULL Camp Fee of $275.00($275.00) is paid to the Troop by MAY 25th [tentative].

b. A possible CAMPERSHIP for a portion not raised from other sources. Amount is at the sole decision of the Brooklyn Council Camping Committee. No minimum or maximun guaranteed.

2. From the Greater New York Councils, BSA
possible Discount because the Troop re-register on-time in January 2007 with the BSA [tentative].

3. From a supporter of TROOP 350:
$25.00 Troop 350 Grant for each Scout attending Summer Camp. (This is in the form of a discount at the time the FULL FEE is paid in May & only if the Scout actually attends Camp)

The TOTAL DISCOUNT available as of September 2007 is $25.00 (plus any CAMPERSHIP) for Scouts attending Camp who pays the total fee by May 25th.

Only the Troop Grant is guaranteed to Scouts whose money is paid after May 26th AND ATTENDS FOR THE FULL WEEK.

Parents will be immediately informed if additional discounts can be found.

PLEASE NOTE:

Every Troop 350 adult leader wants to see your son attend Summer Camp. If there is still a true financial need not helped by the above offerings ? IT SHOULD NOT stop your son from attending. Speak, in private, to the Scoutmaster! The adults in the Troop will do everything possible to find a way to overcome the hurdle to get your son to Summer Camp.

As of March 31st, 2008, CAMPERSHIPS are no longer Guarranteed. We can still ask - but we may not know until we get to Camp if one is available. (7/06)
