Rev. Jim Stern
Getting to Know Pastor Jim: At a young age, Pastor Jim was "hooked" when he heard a sermon based on the verse, "Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men". Mark 1:17. Though he had a father who actually discouraged him in following his call, and wanted him to be a doctor, the call to serve God in the church was strong and he never wavered. He tried many things in life that prepared him to be a pastor. He can talk to people in any situation, such as: farmers, doctors, fishermen, people who speak the German language. He was a pastor at two different churches in Germany at different times. He admits that he continues to have "butterflies, sweaty palms and weak knees" when he preaches, though people of his congregation say it is not at all noticeable. If you are curious, yes he is tall....6ft. 4in.

A story
Duct Tape or a Nail

A man dies and goes to heaven. Of course, St. Peter meets him at the
Pearly Gates. St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to
make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I
give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it
was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."

"Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years
and never cheated on her, even in my heart."

"That's wonderful," says St.Peter, "that's worth three points!"

"Three points?" he says. "Well, I attended church all my life and
supported its ministry with my tithe and service."

"Terrific!" says St.Peter. "That's certainly worth a point."

"One point!?!!" "I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a
shelter for homeless veterans."

"Fantastic, that's good for two more points," he says.

"Two points!?!! "Exasperated, the man cries. "At this rate the only
way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God."

"Bingo, 100 points! Come on in!"

We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and duct tape.

God did it with a nail.

AMEN...

"Working for God on earth doesn't pay much...but His retirement plan is out of this world"!!

"If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has."

A PASTOR IS......
A pastor is an unusual person, indeed!
He gets his assignments from a voice
no one else can hear.
He works for a bonus check that is only
legal tender in heaven.
He starts his day in the prayer closet
instead of the wardrobe closet.
He climbs the ladder of success by
taking the lowly place.
He receives nourishment by feeding sheep.
His greatest gains come by what
he gives away.
He is more attracted to what people
look like inwardly than outwardly.
He lives for God's approval rather than
following the opinions of others.
He speaks from the depths of his heart
rather than from the top of his head.
His richest treasures come from the investments
he makes in the lives of others.
