PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

This year’s Lenten renewal will be especially challenging. I have for a long-time seen Lenten worship as a time for Adult learning and growth. We have delved into parts of the Bible, and parts of the catechism.

This year is something different, “Jesus for President.” Now that we are in that presidential political season (do we ever really leave it) we are deluged by the latest debate, political ad, or news sound bite. Ask yourself, what would it be like if Jesus were a candidate for president?

We will have special worship/teaching experiences on Sunday evenings beginning with a meal at 5:30. I will present a 5 part teaching from the book, “Jesus For President”. We will examine the Biblical teaching about God’s plan for the world and be asking the question, how does our nation measure up to what God expects? Here are the topics:

February 26 (Immanuel): Introduction: Theology of two kingdoms.
March 4 (Adullam): Before there were Kings and Presidents--a Biblical view of God's will for governments.
March 11 (Immanuel): A new kind of commander in chief--How would Jesus function as President?
March 18 (Adullam): When the Empire got Baptized--how the government became religious.
March 25 (Immanuel): A Peculiar Party--how can we maintain the distinctiveness of our faith?

Maybe this will spur us into an honest debate about our faith and citizenship. Could be interesting.

In Christ’s Love,

Pastor Gary Panko

Worship Services are held each Sunday at 8:45a.m. at Adullam and 10:45a.m. at Immanuel. Christ bids you welcome to His Holy Meal the first and third Sundays of each month and on special Church Holidays. Contact the church for information regarding Holy Communion.

Communion is by continuous line at Immanuel (if you are able) and at the rail at Adullam (if you are able). Wine or grape juice is available. Small children and infants who commune should be assisted by adults with them. Those unable to partake of the wine or wheaten bread are assured that the Church affirms our Lord's presence in, with and under each element alone.

All baptized Christians are invited to the Lord's Table. Alleluia! God has prepared a holy feast for us. Happy are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb!
