98% of the voting members present for Calvary's second vote, voted to leave the ELCA. There was only one negative vote and one abstention. After an opening prayer, a brief synopsis of events leading to this second vote and a motion to take the second vote to leave the ELCA, a secret ballot was taken and Calvary's association with the ELCA was severed. The entire process took approximately half an hour.
Pursuant to our constition, the bishop was notified that the vote was being taken today and he, or his authorized representative, invited to observe the vote; neither he nor a representive were present.
Tomorrow a certified letter will be sent to bishop Mullens notifying him of Calvary's decisision.
After the meeting adjourned, a brief, informal ceremony was held outside at our Announcement Board from which the small ELCA letters, which followed the larger LCMC letters, were removed; this improved the Announcement Boards appearance significantly.
Our deepest gratitude to our LCMC brothers and sisters in Christ who have held Calvary up in prayer these past three months as we sought God's will for us in fulfilling His Great Commission.
