For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8,9Today we headed for the every famous San Diego Zoo. Since we were there earlier in the morning, it was pleasant going through the zoo, less people and not as hot. I took alot of pictures of some animals we do not see everyday. Their map was a challenge since they have an upper lane and lower lane. We knew where we wanted to go but getting there took some figuring out. We felt we were able to see about 3/4's of the zoo before we were extremely tired and a bit hot.

I am the way....No one omes to the Father except through me. John 14,6. (The world's greatest bridge)We took the advice of our campground neighbor and headed out early in the morning to miss some of the holiday traffic. After reaching our campsite for two days, we headed downtown, San Diego. We were fortunate enough to have a tour on the Midway Naval Ship. What an adventure!!! From a distance we were able to see the USS Ronald Reagan the largest ship in the world. Our next stop was to be old downtown San Diego that has an enormous amount of history. We drove for quite awhile trying to find the area only to end up in the wrong place. However we were pointed in the correct direction and finally arrive at our destination. Unfortunately since it was late in the afternoon, alot of the buildings had already closed. We still enjoyed walking around in the area and eating at very nice Italian restaurant. Before going back to the campsite, we needed to get a few groceries at Wal-Mart. We had to be extremely exhausted from the day, because we had difficulty finding our truck.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10Well today was another day of experiencing California drivers. Being on Freeway 5 was much easier traveling then our previous two days with alot more travelers and lots and lots of semi-trucks. One thing we noticed was the burnt ditches and bluffs. It is extremely dry in California and it is no wonder they have alot of fires. Our concern was that one of those fires didn't start when we were traveling on the Freeway. In the middle of the day we stopped for coffee and spoke to another RV'er who was traveling to Seattle. It has been so hot for them in California. We stopped at Gorman, California. This RV campground was a bit different. I'm not sure if I give it such a good rating.

All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever. 1 Peter 1:24,25Today was a travel day on Hwy 101 along the California coastline until we reached Hwy 20 going East to Freeway 5. Hwy 101 did not have as many hairpin curves as we earlier in the week experienced. In fact in some areas we had a 4 lane highway. After reaching Freeway 5 we spent the evening at Dunnigan, California.

The Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day. Psalm 121.56What a day! We drove through the Redwood's National Park on a gravel road. It is unbelieveable how large and tall these trees are. In Crescent City's Museum, it had a picture of a church seating 300 people that was built from one Redwood tree. The Redwood trees are taller than the Statue of Liberty and some are up to 2000 years old. We toured the ocean front, saw a lighthouse that only could be reached when it is low tide and walked to see a hidden beach which we could never find. I guess it was well hidden.

Pray continually. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Lord God, thank You for the privilege of coming to You in prayer. Thank You for restoring us to continual relationship with you. Amen.Today we headed toward Selma, Oregon from Grand Ronde, Oregon and took Freeway 5 to Grants Pass. From Grants Pass, we took Highway 199 to Crescent City, CA. The drive was a pleasant one. Once we got closer to California and 101 the more curves we had to tackle. | | | Go To Page: 1 [2][3][4][5][6] |
