History of Melvin's Visit by the Moose |
1990 Visit in Melvin by a Moose |
October, 1990 found people scurrying to a farm corn field north of Melvin to get a glimpse of the moose that had wandered into our area. It is presumed that it came from northern Minnesota. It was in the area for several days, settled in unpicked corn fields. Later, it wandered south to Sutherland and Spencer and was killed by a motorist near Spencer. Every year since that time, Melvin has observed Moose Days during the Summer. | |

A local melvin music group, 2-4-1, will be entertaining the riders as they arrive and enjoy the many enticing foods sold by our various non-profit organizations. The band will be playing outside of "My Place", a local restaurant, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 22. |

Gallagher Provides Varieties of Music at JR's |

JR's Bar and Restaurant will have a DJ, Gallagher, playing music by request during the hours that RAGBRAI will be coming through Melvin. Music and conversation provides a great way to relax for a while during your first long ride. COME JOIN US!

RAGBRAI Weather Warning Shelters |
|
Melvin will provide shelter from weather emergencies at the Melvin Savings Bank, American Lutheran Church, First Reformed Church and the American Legion Building. If there is a severe weather warning, check with any of the people working the food booths and they can assist you in finding one of the designated shelter buildings. | |
