Free SewUpSeattle Sewing Sessions |
We're at a new location on the 4th Saturday of the month, 210 Dexter Avenue North. Email sewupseattle@yahoo.com to register for the class/session from 11 - 1. Sometimes the class fills up fast. Also check our www.sewupseattle.blogspot.com for more information.And due to sensitivities, please come fragrance-free, no scented products, thank you much. Here is our list of topics for 2012:
March 24 - bags (if you've made them before, create a new one)
April 28 - aprons (basic or use our vintage patterns)
May 26 - machines (learn from yours or our collection)
June 23 - simple skirts (tube or circle or?)
July 28 - Pillows (eye or other)
August 25 - Potholders or a Tiny Quilt
September 22 - Scarves (for fashion and/or warmth)
October 27 - Hats (chef, warm, costume, etc.)
November 24 - Home Dec items (coasters, place-mats, cloths, stockings)
December 22 - Hands and Feet (wrist warmers,legwarmers, more stockings,) | |

Needle Brigade, located in Issaquah and sewing items for Baby Corner, can use donations of fabric and notions. Call Peg at 425-392-8173 or email Peggy Petty, january19311@hotmail.com to find out what they need. Knits for baby nightgowns, ribbing for clothes, and all kinds of cottons and blends are useful. |

Free sewing workshops for people who care about fashion and the environment. People of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!Meetings held on various Saturdays in Capitol Hill. Topics include: recycling/upcycling, garment repair, alterations, and special projects. Dress a Girl |
Who are we and what do we do...We are sewers from the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Uganda working with Hope4Women International to serve girls so poor they can only dream of ever owning a new dress. We transform used pillowcases, sheets and donated fabric remnants into dresses any little girl can be proud of. Our pattern is simple but produces versatile dresses quickly. And by adding a pocket, a little lace or a vintage handkerchief these dresses become even more unique. Some ladies hide a handmade doll in the pocket for a sweet surprise making it even more special!! In the last year, we have delivered over 12,000 dresses to 34 countries. Our ambitious goal this year is 50,000 dresses to girls in need. |
