| Our Story and Legacy |
One reason for developing this website was to give ourselves the opportunity to be a positive witness to as many people as we can, especially as we communicate many things that are very important to us. One challenge that we have faced is keeping family, friends and congregations up to date about the changes that go on in our life by having a family member touched by cancer and a transplant. From this point on, life will always be very unpredictable for us. We know many who have prayed for us already. These prayers have certainly helped us greatly as we encounter the ups and downs of this life. As we share about these experiences it is our prayer that all who read this will know that beyond this world there is a much better life awaiting each of us through faith in Jesus Christ. |

| Lisa & Ken Mangold | We are originally from the Peoria, IL area and graduated from Metamora Township High School in 1986 (Lisa) and 1987 (Ken). I, Lisa, attended Eureka College and Western Illinois University earning a BS in Psychology and Biology and an MS in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration. I worked a handful of years as a group home manager for people with disabilities and as a recreation therapist in a physical rehabilation hospital. While these jobs provided me with some wonderful experiences and the opportunity to serve people with disabilities, I am very blessed to be home full-time raising and teaching our children.Ken attended Western Illinois University and earned a BS in History and Russian Studies. He loves to study history and was nearly finished with his MS in History when God called him into pastoral ministry. He prepared for the ministry at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Between college and seminary, he spent ten years studying and preparing for all that God had is store for him. His first call was in 1998 through LCMS World Missions to Almaty, Kazakstan where his knowledge of Russian history and language served him very well. We returned to the US in 1999 for Ken to serve a dual parish in rural IL. Ken served St. John Lutheran of Washburn and Trinity Lutheran of LaRose for four years. He was then called to serve St. John Lutheran of Townsend, WI in 2004. Our family has lived in Northern WI ever since. |
| Our Children |
John (12), Alyssa (13) and Aleena (8) | | We were married in 1989 and celebrated 20 years of marriage in May. Ken is a wonderful husband and father. With God's help, we have grown the friendship of our youth into a strong and fulfilling marriage. We both are passionate about reaching others with the Truth that can only be known through Jesus Christ. We know the harmful effects that worldly thinking has on our society and we intentionally seek to encourage others to grow spiritually through the study of God's word and to grow personally through the study of leadership principles. While we spend much time reading, learning and growing - we also love to have fun. Ken spends his free time repairing firearms and I spend my free time training for powerlifting competitions. We enjoy living in Northern WI and also make time to hike, letterbox, geocache, kayak, mountain bike, snowshoe and cross country ski. In 2007 we learned about an amazing leadership organization called the TEAM and have been learning how to help others through a self-directed education and leadership development program.

We have three wonderful children. We are very blessed to know that they all love Jesus Christ and know Him as their Savior. We are a home-schooling family that appreciates the lifestyle that we are able to have by having our kids home to learn. They all love to attend 4H programs and are showing themselves to be leaders in this environment. Each summer they prepare many projects to take to the county fair. Attending programs at Camp Luther is another highlight of their summer. All three children are a great help around the house and handle the unpredictable life that we have very well. |
