Parking |
Free parking is available on Somerset, Louis, Hamilton and Harvey Streets. On Sundays, normal parking rules in New Brunswick are not in effect. You may park in front of the Church, or anywhere you like along Somerset St. (except in front of driveways, fire hydrants, etc. :) For additional parking, surronding the church within half a block or so, turn down Louis St. just after the church; and right on Hamilton St.; and again right on Harvey St. - a one way street - which brings you back onto Somerset St. Turning right again forms a loop around the church and surrounding homes. You will be able to find parking easily in this residential neighborhood, and you will find enough street spaces available so that you will not have to parallel park if you do not like to. | | |

Accessibility |
Our church is an accessible church. Remembering the story in Matthew 9:2 we seek to welcome all people - including people of all ages, people who are differently abled, and those with limited mobility. Our enclosed motorized lift is located in the front of our building, to the right, directly behind the church sign. Our lift comfortably accomodates one person sitting or standing, or seated in most standard wheelchair and scooter models, along with a companion if desired. If it so happens that you make use of very large motorized wheelchair or scooter, and you are unsure of whether it may be well accomodated using our lift, or within the church, please contact us and we will be able to help you with more specific information. In any case, it is always possible to make alternate arrangments - such as perhaps transfering to a standard wheelchair for the ride up, etc. Every person is unique, and the approach depends on your individual needs and comfort zone. We are glad to assist you in any way we are able. We are a small congregation, but moving toward greater accesibilty is an ELCA policy, and a specific priority for us here at Ascension. Contact us for questions, comments, concerns, or to let us know that you are coming and would like someone to assist you when you visit. Email: ContactAscension@aol.com or Telephone: (732)545-4961 Additionally, you can contact the New Jersey Synod office (www.njsynod.org) by email for help finding a church home that accomodates your accesibilty and/or other needs (hearing impaired, vision etc.) near you. Hope you join us soon!
