Holy Baptism is the rite of entrance into the Christian Faith, and a sacrament of the Church. At a Baptism, also called a Christening, water is poured over the new Chritian's head three times; in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, signifying the washing away of sin, and new life in Jesus. We baptize infants as well as adults and children of all ages who have not yet been baptized. Please contact us if you desire baptism for yourself or for your child. Pastor Collict will invite you to a meeting to talk over the ceremony, the significance of Baptism, and Christian Faith. Baptisms are typically celebrated during the Sunday Service, and family members and friends of all faiths are warmly welcomed to attend. There is no fee for baptism, however you are very welcome to make a special offering to the church on the ocasion of your or a loved one's baptism. Baptisms are a joyful time, and we would love to share this special day in God with you. |

Many people wish to be married in the church today, just as they have for generations. If you do not have a church home, we are pleased to let you know that we have an "open door policy" for weddings at Ascension. When scheduling a wedding, please contact us early, ideally at least three months in advance, so that we can ensure the date you have in mind, and make the all necesary arrangements. Pastor will invite you to a meeting to discuss the ceremony, and the significance of Christian marriage with you. Our skilled organist, Douglas Kramer is often available to play for wedding services. It is also possible to hire your own musician(s) to perform at your ceremony, however it is necesary to arrange this with Doug first. It is also in some cases possible to have your own minister marry you in our church, but again, it is necesary to discuss this with Pastor Collict. There is a requested donation to the church, set by the church council for the weddings of couples who are not now members of the congregation. Just as the weekly offerings of our members do, this donation contributes to the church and helps us to supply the the salaries of the pastor, organist, church sexton, custodian and secretary, whose work make weddings & other services at the church possible. It also helps contribute to the budget of the church office, which will arrange the bulletins for your wedding, and gives you the oppurtunity to be a part of the important work we do in the community as you begin your life together. New Brunswick is something of a wedding town, and since we aim to keep costs manageable for couples & families, you will find the donation very reasonable in comparison with for example St. Peter's or the Vorhees or Kirpatrick Chapels nearby. Many couples choose to hold their receptions at the Hungarian American Athletic Club banquet facilites next door, or in in other fine halls and restaurants in the area. Our church seats( ) comfortably. Ascension's size and scale you will find though, make it an ideal church venue for the more intimate ceremony as well. To learn more about celebrating your wedding at Ascension, contact us. Better yet, stop in this Sunday and meet us. God bless you as you plan your special day, and in your life together. We look forward to hearing from you. |

| | Confirmation is celebrated for young people in their teenage years. It is an oppurtunity for youth to personally affirm their baptism, take ownership of the faith they have been raised in, and be embraced by the community as brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. This is a joyful time for us. Confirmation is preceeded by a period of insturction in the Christian Faith. For some Lutherans First Communion is celebrated at the time of Confirmation. For others, younger children recieve Holy communion some time earlier at the discretion of their parents and pastor. In this case, a brief preparation session or two for the child and parents, appropriate to the child's age, is arranged with the pastor to help them better understand the sacrament of Holy Communion and grow closer to God as a family. If you would like for a young person in your life to begin preparation for Confirmation of First Communion, please send us an e-mail at MDiClemente@students.nbts.edu. We will be very glad to help you! Are you an adult, who was baptized, and maybe even grew up in the church, but has not felt very connected to it lately? We have something for you too! If you would like, the pastor will invite you to a few sessions on Christian basics. Then you will be invited join the congregation in a brief rite called an "Affirmation of Baptism." It is like a confirmation, in that now as an adult, you confess the faith you receieved earlier as your own, but it is a much more relaxed event during a regular Sunday Service. |
