| | | Lutherans with all Christians believe in the Triune God. God created and loves all of creation -- the earth and the seas and all of the world’s inhabitants. We believe that God's Son, Jesus Christ, transforms lives through his death on the cross and his new life, and we trust that God's Spirit is active in the world. |

The Bible |
We believe the Bible. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and only norm of the Lutheran Church's proclamation, faith, and life. |

The Lutheran Confessions |
We accept the Augsburg Confession as a true witness to the Gospel. It was written as a universal statement of belief all Christians could agree on. It was presented as a statement of our faith by the princes of the Lutheran lands when they stood up for the right of our church to exist before the Emperor of Germany in 1530We also aknowledge the other confessional writings found in the Book of Concord, namely the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles and the Treatise, the Small Catechism, the Large Catechism, and the Formula of Concord, as further valid interpretations of the Christian Faith. These historical documents were written and compiled during the time of the Reformation by Martin Luther, Philip Melanchton and others. They minutely spelled out the Lutheran Faith, defined the Lutheran Church, and in certain ways, still shape us today. In particular, the Augsburg Confession and Luther's Small Catechism (a simple summary of Christian Faith) are used today to teach young people and new members about our faith. |

Martin Luther translates the Bible for the first time, into the language of his people.

Law & Gospel |
Lutherans like to look at the Bible as being distributed into two principal topics: the Law, and Gospel. The Law includes all of God's instructions, as well as his warnings and condemnations of evil. We all are wrapped up in a sinful world, but the story doesn't end there. The Gospel is the joyous message of God's grace in Christ Jesus toward all. The Law is a mirror on flawed human nature, while the Gospel reveals God's promises and His giving His Son for us. We could never make our way up to a just God by our own good works, but in love He has come down to us!

The Lutheran Rose |

***********************************************************For one who believes from the heart will be justified (Rom. 10:10) Denn so man von Herzen glaubt, so wird man gerecht Mert szívvel hiszünk az igazságra ************************************************************ | | The Lutheran Rose, also called Martin Luther's Seal, is the most easily recognized emblem of the Lutheran Church & the Lutheran people - and with good reason. It was designed by Martin Luther to summarize Christian belief. Today, for Lutherans it is a beloved symbol of our Faith and heritage, and one we use to tell others the Good News. Find a brief explanation of the Lutheran Rose below, and look for other artistic representations of the Rose around our site. |

The Black Cross..... |
Jesus died on the Cross, to save us from our sins. Nothing we could do could save us. He is risen from the dead, and now for Christians, the cross is a symbol of redemption and hope. | | And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed (1 Peter 2:24) |
The Red Heart.... |
He did this be because he loves us -not because of anything we do. The heart is also a symbol of life. Jesus supplies our life daily. And his death and ressurection give us life everlasting.
| | For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16)The just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38) |
The White Rose... |
He did this so that we could be pure and free. The rose is a symbol of this purity and new life by faith in Jesus. The rose is also a symbol of Jesus Christ himself. | | Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool (Issaiah 1:18)I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys (Song of Solomon 2:1) |
The Blue Sky... |
The blue sky symbolizes joy in spirit and faith, as well as God's Kingdom. Our faith is a beginning of the heavenly future joy, which begins already, but is grasped in hope, not yet revealed. | | And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearnes (Exodus 24:10)Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:3) |

The Gold Ring... |
Gold is the most precious of all metals. And our Faith is the most precious thing we have. It is worth more than any money, and is there for us as a source of strength in good times and bad, rich times or poor. But you could never buy it! It is the free gift of God! And this Faith is eternal. It links generation to generation, and nation to nation, and all people to God, in an everlasting circle. It is the glow of a new day, and a better world coming, and the brightness of Jesus, the Light of the World. | | Your faith is more precious than gold (1 Peter 1:7) |
| May we all ever keep this true Faith in our hearts!

We live this out together in our church & community, in our professions, with our families, and in our inner lives. Watch out though, because faith can change your life! Here are some Christian basics to help you grow in faith or begin your faith journey. Join us on the way!

The Means of Grace: Word & Sacrament |
How can I be close to Jesus?God reaches out to us in love. "The means of grace" simply means the ways of God's giving. His giving, or Grace, is evident everywhere, but through these means, God offers, confers and seals the forgiveness of sins, salvation, and life everlasting. The means of grace are: the Gospel, Baptism & Holy Communion. When we hear the Gospel (the good news of forgiveness, peace, life, and joy in Jesus Christ) aloud, read it, meditate on it, or listen to the Gospel being preached, the Holy Spirit works the faith which saves in our hearts. All we need to do is accept and trust in God's faithfulness. (See: Acts 16:30,31) We also call the two Sacraments (Holy Baptism & Holy Communion) means of Grace. Sacraments are the Word of God with a visible external sign. They are commanded by Jesus Christ (See: Matthew 28:19 & Luke 22:19) and they are effective beacause of the Word of God spoken with them. In the water of Baptism, we are washed, cleansed from sin, and brought to new life in Jesus Christ. In Holy Communion, we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine. Just as eating and drinking strenghen and nourish us physically, Jesus strengthens and nourishes us spiritually - even unto everlasting life. Christian church services are centered around the Word and Sacraments because the Means of Grace are not just a one time deal. The Holy Spirit works in them to strenghten and preserve saving faith, and through them we grow in grace. Join us!
