Nominating Committee (1 time per year)This committee usually meets in December to fill the list of nominees for the annual meeting in January. The committee consists of three members chosen at the congregation’s annual meeting and the pastor as advisor and convener.
Board of Education (4 or 5 times per year)
This committee administers the Sunday School, Bible School, and education programs of the congregation. They usually set a schedule for family participation in the Sunday fellowship time, keep craft supplies in order, recruit and train Sunday School teachers, schedule the Sunday School to sing in worship, and enroll children in the cradle roll. They meet especially in the spring to plan for Vacation Bible School and in the summer to arrange for the school year, and once in the fall to plan the Christmas program.
Stewardship Committee (1 or 2 times per year)
This committee promotes generosity among members to meet ministry goals set by the annual meeting of the congregation.
Gustavus Adolphus College
This person attends the one day spring convention at Gustavus Adolphus, which is usually the first Saturday after Easter Sunday. He or she promotes the college among congregation members.
Delegates to Synod Assembly
This year the Synod Assembly will be in St. Peter on June 8-9, 2012. This couple (or these two people) is to read about the issues, get direction from the congregation council if there is to going to be a controversial vote, and report to the congregation council after the assembly.
Library Committee (1 or 2 times per year)
This committee inventories the collection of books, videos, and music in the library and promotes their distribution. They may make acquisitions according to the budget and any memorial money they receive.
Delegate to Luther Haven
These individuals or couples attend the annual meeting of the homes and serve as a liaison between the homes and our congregation. They may report to the congregation council. In the event of a major fund-raising drive by the home, they should work in cooperation with the stewardship committee.
Delegates to Green Lake Bible Camp
These two people or this individual should attend the annual meeting of the Bible Camp in Spicer, the next year after the election. This is usually a Tuesday afternoon in late January. They are to report to the congregation council and promote attendance at the Bible Camp programs by young members. In the event of a major fund-raising campaign at the Bible Camp they are to work in cooperation with the stewardship committee.
Delegates to LacQuiParle Conference Assembly
This group will meet on Sunday; usually in February. Sometimes this group votes on a nomination for bishop or a proposal which will come before the Synod Assembly in June.
Worship Committee (4 times per year)
The organists, choir director, and two lay persons take part in this committee. They coordinate special music and plan for worship themes and holiday celebrations.
